Profit vs ROI in Betting
Why raw profit and return on investment answer different questions when assessing a betting record.
Raw profit answers 'how much'
Profit shows the net amount or points gained or lost over the record.
ROI answers 'relative to how much was staked'
ROI normalizes profit against total staking volume, making records of different sizes easier to compare.
Use both
Profit without staking volume can mislead; ROI without sample size can also mislead. Read them together with odds and drawdown.
